Formed in 1994, Managed Care Partners provides a wide range of services to acute care hospitals, critical access hospitals, affiliated physicians and provider networks. We are owned by our principals, who are active in the practice. Managed Care Partners has no affiliation with insurance companies, HMOs, or commercial managed care organizations. We work only for providers, never payers!
OUR TEAM
Mata Binteris, JD, Assistant Vice President
Mata employs her legal education and experience with Managed Care Partners to advocate for providers. In addition to evaluating and negotiating payer agreements, Mata researches laws affecting providers and provider networks, seeks to resolve payer-provider reimbursement disputes, and participates in developing and implementing managed care contracting strategies for the firm’s clients.
With Managed Care Partners since 1994, Mata’s other work experience includes the Labor and Employment Division of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Mata earned her law degree at Chicago-Kent College of Law. She holds a Masters of Arts degree from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, also from DePaul. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois.
Nancy DiLiberto, CPA, Director, Clinical and Financial Analytics
Nancy is Managed Care Partners’ Director of Clinical and Financial Analytics. In that capacity she evaluates hospital and physician reimbursement offers from third party payers, maintains physician and physician-hospital organization data bases of contracted payers’ fee schedules, prepares comparative exhibits for payer offers being messengered to PO and PHO providers, creates and maintains summaries of hospital reimbursement, audits payers for compliance with contract terms, assists in the review of employer claims data for provider organizations to help identify opportunities to control medical costs, and evaluates employee health benefit plan performance.
Prior to coming to Managed Care Partners, Nancy was a financial consultant to Rush University Medical Center and also held positions at Rush Health Plans as Director of Decision Support, Director of Contract and Cost Services, and Controller.
Nancy received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Lewis University and her MBA in Finance from DePaul University.
Kate Hlava, JD, Manager, Contracts and Credentialing
Kate’s responsibilities at Managed Care Partners include review and evaluation of managed care and delegated credentialing contracts, credentialing of participating providers, maintenance of provider directories and research on legal matters. Prior to Managed Care Partners, Inc., Kate worked for the Cook County Juvenile Court system and practiced as a sole practitioner.
Kate was in the first class of CIVITAS scholars at Loyola University Chicago Law School and is licensed to practice law in Illinois. While at Loyola, she was published in the Loyola University ChildLaw Review and recently authored professionalism materials for online continuing legal education programs. She has contributed extensive legal support for Professionalism CLE programs and seminars and is the author of the SIU Survey of Law: Professionalism and Ethics, 2008. Kate received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University.
Jodi McDonald, Account Manager
Jodi utilizes her extensive managed care background to advise and support several complex, multi-provider clients in Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio. In this role she identifies provider needs, coordinates the firm’s services and intercedes with payers when problems surface.
Jodi has 15+ years of Account Management and Contracting experience. Prior to joining Managed Care Partners, Jodi worked for a regional PPO network and served in senior account management positions with insurance carriers as well as a large national pharmacy provider’s managed care department.
Jodi earned her Bachelors Degree in Communications and Public Relations from Illinois State University.
Kasia Plaszewski, Financial Analysis and Accounting
At Managed Care Partners Kasia is responsible for maintaining the company’s financial records as well as preparing financial reports for client physician hospital organizations. In addition, Kasia evaluates payer physician fee schedules, models hospital reimbursement and compiles other analytical reports.
Kasia is completing her Bachelor of Science - Accounting at Elmhurst College in preparation for becoming a Certified Public Accountant.
James D. Richmond, President
Jim is President and, with Diana Whitney, co-owner of Managed Care Partners. He frequently finds himself involved in assisting hospitals and physicians in devising tactics for dealing with payers, creating and operating local and regional physician and hospital integration alternatives, evaluation and negotiation of managed care contracts, development and operation of managed care organizations and integrated delivery models (e.g., hospital-affiliated group practices, PHOs or regional provider networks) and marketing of provider-controlled managed care organizations to third party payers.
Before the formation of Managed Care Partners, Jim served physicians and hospitals throughout the country as an executive in the insurance and managed care divisions of Premier Health Alliance. His other work experience includes over 20 years with a provider-owned insurer and national and regional insurance brokerage operations.
Jim’s undergraduate degree is from Northwestern University, and his MBA is from Roosevelt University.
Diana Whitney, RN, Senior Vice President
A Registered Nurse, Diana came to Managed Care Partners with clinical experience in rural hospitals, physician offices and public health organizations as well as managed care. Her experience also includes a leading role in the creation of a local provider network and its sponsorship of one of the first private label health insurance plans in rural Illinois. Diana’s background gives her an acute awareness of hospital, physician and patient concerns which she uses to help the company’s clients.
At Managed Care Partners since 1996, Diana is both the firm’s principal negotiator with third party payers and the service team leader for many of our provider clients, assisting them with contract evaluations, negotiations and claims payment issues.
Diana earned her nursing degree at Black Hawk College and a bachelor’s degree at Western Illinois University.
Scott A. Williamson, Assistant Vice President
Scott joined Managed Care Partners after six years with a physician hospital organization in western Illinois where his responsibilities included arranging and servicing contracts between self-funded employers and the PHO, assisting providers resolve payment problems, providing guidance to employers on health plan issues, serving as the PHO’s representative to other provider-owned networks, and maintaining contact with and promoting the PHO to area insurance agents and employers.
At Managed Care Partners Scott combines his PHO and prior insurance agent experience in delivering management and administrative services to integrated provider entities, assisting hospitals and physicians evaluate their markets and develop their managed care contracting strategies, and in arranging and maintaining payer relationships that complement the providers’ contracting strategies.
Scott has a Business Administration degree from Illinois State University.
